Succeeding With Fiverr

The first thing you need to know is that there are two types of Fiverr users: “Gigs” and “Customers”. Gigs work hard to provide a quality service at $5. Customers are the people who buy gigs. This article will be focused on how to become successful as a gig.

This article will not tell you how to go from being a newbie with only 1 or 2 good reviews all the way up to having hundreds. There are already plenty of resources available for this type of success through Fiverr. What this article will focus on is what it takes for an average, everyday person/freelancer to make money on Fiverr using simple, repeatable methods that put money in your pocket every day.

Let’s face it: You can’t be an expert at everything and there is not enough time in the world to learn how to do every single thing on Fiverr, let alone excel at doing each of these things to make a lot of money. This article will focus on niche marketing, which means finding your strengths as a gig worker and focusing on those areas where you are truly special. It might sound impossible, but ask yourself this question: Is there something that has taken up a considerable amount of your free time or that you have even become passionate about? Maybe video games, graphic design, writing, cookingโ€ฆwhatever it is you are great at outside of work.

Once you’ve figured out what your strength or passion is, it’s time to look for your perfect Fiverr gig. Ask yourself questions like:

-What do I love about X?

-How can I transfer my skills into something that others will pay for on Fiverr?

-Is there a need in the marketplace for what I am good at? (There probably is!)

-Who would use my service and how much would they be willing to pay? Finding this out is easyโ€”just observe people around you or go online and check out other freelancing sites that are similar. Just make sure it’s not too competitive of an industry. If you’re great at making websites but everyone else on Fiverr makes fantastic websites as well, then focus on something slightly different.

Once you have your perfect gig, it’s time to put up an ad on Craigslist for free! This is called “Stickering” and there are already plenty of tutorials online about how to do this. Just search “Fiverr Stickering”. There are other ways to do this as well, but Craigslist has worked well for me in the past.

After you post your ad, simply wait while offers roll in to your inbox every day. I know that sounds too good to be true; however, it really works! If you aren’t getting any offers one day then go back and see if something can be improved. Adjustments like font size or color might make all the difference in attracting attention through a sea of listings.

The key is to be patient and wait for the perfect offer at the right price from your dream client.

Once you have a client, it’s time to negotiate! The first thing you need to understand is that Fiverr lists all prices as NEGOTIABLE! You can change just about any gig instantly into a custom order by simply typing “custom” before the price listed on their website. This means if your starting price is $5 but after negotiations with a potential client, they agree to pay you $10, then immediately save your gig as a custom order and charge them $10 (This will make sense in a minute). If this happens, always make sure to go back and edit your gig to say that it is “$10 minimum” instead of the original price. This way you are covered in case another potential client approaches your gig with a lower offer.

Another negotiation tactic I have used many times has been offering free revisions. Once you complete an order, immediately send it to the client for review and politely ask them if they are satisfied with your work. This brings out 1 of 2 possibilities: The first being that they leave you 100% good reviews across the board and order again OR they will request additional changes or ask for their money back since they were not happy with what you delivered. What this means is that 99% of the time people just need a little reassurance before ordering again so asking for revisions is always a great way to reassure them that they are in good hands. Sometimes I even ask the client what they would like changed just to be sure.

Once you have your client, it’s time for custom negotiations! This is where things get interesting. If you’ve taken note of all the information given above, then negotiating should be pretty simple for you by now.

Often times Fiverr clients want to give you $5 but instead say “Make me an offer”. This is where your best negotiation tactics come into play because this means that there is room for plenty more if you can figure out how much more someone would pay for your service. It might sound confusing at first; however, usually price haggling is done through messages on Fiverr and not in the actual gig description itself. It’s still a great idea to list your service for $5 to get started; however, if you don’t want to appear too eager then start with something higher like $10. This way, when someone messages you about other offers, you can easily go “higher or lower” without giving away any of your secrets just yet.

Once you have an offer from a potential client it’s time to counteroffer! The counteroffer is what determines how much more they are willing to pay above their original offer so be careful with this one because it should not exceed half of the original price listed on Fiverr. So if they originally offered $5 for a gig, going up to $6.50 might be pushing it.

After that you can either negotiate even further or just accept the offer if you’re satisfied with the amount of money they are willing to pay you. It really depends on how quick and easy negotiations were at this point so feel free to mix things up once in a while for entertainment value.

The most important thing to remember when negotiating is this: If someone offers $5 but says “make me an offer” then agreeing to their terms will usually result in them accepting your counteroffer of $6 instead of taking off another 50 cents since they already agreed to pay more than what was listed on Fiverr.

If someone offered you $10 for your service, try counteroffering with something like “$10 minimum” instead of “$7.50”, “I can go as low as $7.50 but no lower”. This gives them the impression that you are flexible with your pricing which could result in them offering more money so keep this one in mind for future negotiations!

Now it’s time to take what you’ve learned and apply it to some actual Fiverr gigs. Here is an example of a gig I currently have on my profile:

Here are some things to note about the title, description, and price of this particular gig:

Title : 100% Money Back Gaurantee – If you’re not satisfied just let me know within 5 days after delivery & I’ll happily fix your order or give your money back – You don’t need to ask, I’ll refund you immediately.

Description : I am offering exceptional & high quality service for your product. My work is 100% original and human readable (Don’t expect to read something like ” I will make this in 5 days”).

Price : $5 Minimum – You can make me an offer or place any custom amount above $5!

Now let’s go through the process of negotiating on Fiverr! We’ll be using the example gig listed above so feel free to refer back to it while reading ahead if necessary. It should look something like this:

Client: Do you do edits? Like fix mistakes? Or maybe another word that means edit, but sounds better? I’m not talking about full rewrites. I’m talking about fixing up the original content a bit.

You: Yeah I do! I can either fix it or rewrite it for you, but my price is $7.50 minimum per gig because it takes me longer to write them out that way. How many would you like?

Client: Oh really? Awesome! Well, I need one more paragraph added to the current description of my product…but what’s your standard rate? Also would you be able to change “blah blah blah” to “super duper awesome sauce”? That sounds better lol ๐Ÿ™‚

You: For just an extra paragraph sure! My service price is still $7.50 though since that’s how long it takes me to write them out. I’m really good at what I do! ๐Ÿ™‚

Client: What’s your standard rate? And could you change “blah blah blah” to “super duper awesome sauce”? That sounds better lol

Piece by piece reaching an agreement becomes easier until ultimately they cave and just pay your service price.

That’s just one aspect of Fiverr. There are so many more! For instance, you can also offer multiple gigs. This means that for $5 another guy could write up the description while you rewrite or fix it up. At first glance, this might not seem like much but when you get lots of people buying your services, the money adds up fast! There are also other ways to earn income on Fiverr such as writing profiles and descriptions to entice buyers (“Oh please buy my service!”) which actually pay really well if done correctly (I once made over $100 in a week doing that!). Promoting yourself is perfectly fine here because there is no authority system like on other freelancing sites who will get mad at you for “self-promoting.” Simply put, the sky is the limit!

When they want something quick it is totally your choice whether or not you decide to do the job at their desired price. However, by this time most people are usually either afraid of getting scammed or simply don’t care anymore because they really need whatever service they are looking for which helps make them much easier to negotiate with. Once you learn how to succeed on Fiverr there is no stopping your income. It might take hours of hard work but trust me, it will be worth it. Just remember that it is not about getting the most orders possible because if all of your offered services are low-level gigs then making money will become difficult. You got to make sure you offer high quality services (while still maintaining your current price) and promote yourself through articles like this one…oh yeah and by the way:
